Parsler's Piece

About 3 years ago,  the parish council purchased a piece of land off the Oxford Road near Combewell.  This had belonged to Mr Arthur Parsler, who for many years ran the post office and general store on the site of what is now 18 and 20 Oxford Road.  It had been part of the fields he used for his horses.  The land was offered to the parish at a very reasonable rate on condition that it be used for the benefit of the community.

Since then, it has been planted with wildflowers and trees, benches have been positioned and the grass in the centre of the field is regularly mown.  A gate which allows access by wheelchair users has been installed from the Combewell end.   I think you can see from the pictures below that it is now a very attractive area.

The intention is that it remain a recreational area, without specific purpose, just an attractive area for people to sit and enjoy the surroundings.
