Planning Applications considered November 2007

PO7/W1269/CLD Greenwoods of Garsington, Pettiwell   Use of land for the dismantling, storage & recycling of scrap vehicles.  The councillors are unsure what permission is already in place at Greenwoods and therefore what change this application implies. They are concerned that there are a lot of vehicles in the road during busy times which could give rise to accidents.  They have written to the planning department expressing their concern that any change does not involve more parking on the road.

PO7/W1247 3 Birch Road; Single storey side extension providing garage, study/guest bedroom & shower/wc.  This development will not change the look of the property from the road as there is already a garage in place.  The councillors had no objection to this application.

PO7/W1192 Fern Cottage 29 Oxford Road  Construction of a single storey rear conservatory.  The councillors had no objection to this development Update Planning permission granted 28th November 2007.

PO7/W1100 Stone House 12-14 South End; Change of use of annexe building to single family dwelling and the division of land.  This is a listed building with an annexe consisting of a garage with an upper storey currently let out.  The division of the property will allow this building to be a separate dwelling with its own land.  The councillors have no objection but have reservations as to the neighbourliness of the plan as the separate dwelling will directly overlook the stone house itself.  If the property were to be sold, then with new occupants this could be an issue.
Update Planning permission refused 21 November 2007.  Given the close proximity of the annexe to the main house, the development would be unneighbourly and would be to the detriment of the garden area of a listed building.  For those interested in such things the SODC local plan 2011 policy CON5, H5, advice in PPG15, and South Oxfordshire Design guide, guideline BP5 were quoted.

PO7/W0987 145 Oxford Road; Two storey side extension.  This is a garage with an upper storey.  The councillors had no objection to this buthave reservations about the fact that the extension will abut directly up against the house next door.  Update Planning permission granted 9th November 2007
