P07/W0989 The Top Yard, Oxford Equestrian Centre
Alterations and conversion of existing barns and stables to provide 4 no. dwellings and the provision of associated car parking facilities and private amenity space. This is the latest of several application for this site which have included planning for a hotel and restaurant, all of which have been turned down. This one was for conversion to houses. There are already buildings on the site and some nearby houses so the council felt that this wasn't an application we could refuse to support. Subsequently however, we have heard that the district council are to refuse the application on the grounds of unsustainability.
Update Nov 2007. This application has now been refused. There were several grounds but these are the main ones.
1- It is an unsustainable development as it is isloated from public transport.
2- the existing building are not permanent and the proposed development involves considerable reconstruction.
3- the site immediately adjoins existing farm buildings whose activities are likely to be harmful to domestic residents

Update 4 August 2008 The applicants have decided to appeal this decision.
P07/W1025 127 Oxford Road
Demolition of existing dormer bungalow. Subsequent erection of 2no. 2 storey 4 bed dwellings with integral garage & 2no. additional parking spaces per dwelling. This is a derelict site with a crumbling bungalow behind the bus stop on Oxford road near the junction with Elm Drive. The two houses would be side by side with a long plot of garden behind. The parish council felt that the two houses together would constitute overdevelopment of the site. The target decision date on this application is currently 23 October.

This application was withdrawn prior to decision by the planning office on Nov 8
P07/W1141 98 Southend
Lounge extension and pitched roof over porch. This seemed to the parish council to be a purely domestic issue and the application was supported. Target decision date for this application is 12 November.
